San Diego- Rumors from the “Fatcave”- More Batman than we thought in Suicide Squad? From Kevin Smith’s Fatman on Batman Podcast

August 1st, 2016; by Comic Book International

On a recent podcast episode of Fatman on Batman, with filmmaker/podcaster Kevin Smith and co-host Marc Bernardin, the two hosts talk about how much Batman we really get to see in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. Smith and Bernardin recorded the podcast live from San Diego Comic Con 2016 in front of a roaring audience of Bat fans.

On the subject of Suicide Squad, Smith brought up something he had heard from a friend of his: that there is “liberal use of Batman in this movie.” Bernardin, also being Film Editor at the L.A. Times, naturally gets to see a lot of major films in advance. Strongly adhering to an apparently stringent NDA from Warners, Bernardin did his best to neither confirm nor deny what Smith had heard. He did, however, say, “Yes, I’ve heard that as well.”

Between Smith’s many connections at Warner Bros. and Bernardin’s sarcastic denial yet obvious confirmation about seeing the movie, I think we can rest assured that we will get a lot more Batman than expected. At least, more than just the one or two Bat scenes that most people originally assumed. In fact, Smith added, “I heard at least three good ****ing Batman moments.” Bernardin reacted similarly, obviously confirming with a few sarcastic sounds, but without saying a word.

Regarding other general rumors about Suicide Squad, Smith said, “I’ve heard a lot of things.” Another interesting thing he mentioned was: “…the opening introductory passage of the movie is spellbinding.” Once again, Bernardin confirmed without confirming.

Smith often says on the podcast, They got our money regardless. He’s saying that if you put any DC character on the big screen, he’s showing up. Anyone reading this is likely seeing this movie regardless of how much Batman is in it. But, to get the news of even more of something you love so much? What’s better than that? Speaking of which, give ‘em your money soon before they sell out!

Suicide Squad opens on August 5th, 2016
