TV’s Star Wars: Rebels reaches a crucial audience for the Star Wars universe: kids. While it may not be every adult’s SW jam, for a new generation it’s going to be their reference point for childhood memories of cartoons. The programming that reached them most. And most often. That’s TV, not movies.

You can’t really argue with hardcore purists in the first place, but imagine if you could. What they forget is the impact serialized programming has on people when they’re growing up.  It’s what you can’t wait to leave school and run home to (DVR or not).  It’s in your home, in your living room, among your family.

Funko realizes all this, as do the brilliant team behind Star Wars Smugglers Bounty. Of course, theres the obvious popularity of Rebels. But, in case you didn’t know, Rogue One’s Saw Gerrera played by Forest Whitaker, originated in the Rebels cartoon. So, whether or not the show is your jam, we should all still be pumped about the upcoming box. After all,  Rebels features the one character that has endured the prequel film albatross this whole time. Since Episode I, back in  1999, Sith apprentice  has made at least one of those movies watchable. That’s right Star Wars/Funko fanatics. None other than Darth Maul is the featured Funko Pop! vinyl figure for the upcoming Smugglers Bounty box in March!
